Vis retains a more restrained, sea-shaped atmosphere than much of the central Dalmatian coast. The island’s sheltered bays, historic harbour and fishing town of Komiža reward travellers who are happy to move slowly.
The best moments have no timetable.
Stiniva is spectacular from the water, but the cove is small and can be crowded. The Blue Cave on nearby Biševo has ticketing, weather and access rules that may affect visits.

Plan the details
Allow flexible time for the open-water crossing and wind conditions. This is an island to savour, not a stop to rush through.
